Quality Assurance
Quality and accuracy are central to all laboratory activities. The department follows stringent internal quality control (IQC) procedures and actively participates in External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) conducted by Christian Medical College, ensuring reliable and reproducible test results.
Advanced Diagnostic Technologies
Automated Blood Culture System – BacT/ALERT : The BacT/ALERT automated blood culture system enables early detection of bacterial and fungal bloodstream infections. Continuous monitoring and optimized culture conditions facilitate rapid diagnosis of bacteremia and fungemia.
Automated Identification and Susceptibility Testing – bioMérieux VITEK 2 : The VITEK 2 Compact system provides rapid and accurate identification of bacteria and yeasts, along with antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). This automated platform improves workflow efficiency, reduces turnaround time, and supports antimicrobial stewardship.
Molecular Diagnostics – GeneXpert MTB/RIF The GeneXpert MTB/RIF assay is a rapid, automated molecular test for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and rifampicin resistance using real-time PCR technology, enabling early and appropriate clinical decision-making.
Point-of-Care Molecular Testing – Truenat Truenat is a portable, real-time PCR platform designed for rapid molecular diagnosis at the point of care. Its compact, battery-operated design allows reliable testing in both hospital and peripheral healthcare settings.
Automated Serology – Bio-Rad EVOLIS The Bio-Rad EVOLIS system offers fully automated enzyme immunoassay (EIA) testing for serological screening, ensuring standardized processing, enhanced biosafety, and consistent diagnostic performance.
